Red fox drinking.
This image was the result of one of my first attempts using off camera flash. It was taken in Norwich when I lived there and took a few nights to get right. On the edge of a road through the Mousehold Heath area of the city there used to be a large pothole (about 10ft square!) which filled with water after heavy rainfall. The water would hold in the pothole for around a week in the middle of summer. Each night this fox would approach the puddle and drink from it. I had the shot in mind as soon as I first saw the puddle, but actually getting the shot was more difficult than I ever thought it would be. I remember I was using an old set of Vivitar flashes at the time connected via the PC socket on a Canon 1Ds mkii, they were awesome little flashes for their price (I think I paid £15 for two!), but they always blew up or needed repairing when ever they got damp. Needless to say that I have since upgraded to Canon dedicated Speedlites.
